Creating Community Through Service
The spirit of community and service is a resounding strength of Holy Spirit Catholic School. Carefully nurtured and broadly celebrated, Holy Spirit Flames families quickly recognize a powerful sense of belonging within our community and our students within our student body. Our foundation of service is what brings our students and families together. Learn more about our Parent organizations and service program offered at Holy Spirit.
The national President's Volunteer Service Award program began in 2003 to encourage and reward America's proud tradition of volunteer service. The PVSA recognizes volunteers' valuable contributions to our communities and encourages more people to serve. This Presidential award program is a way to thank and honor Americans who inspire others to engage in volunteer service through their demonstrated commitment and example. Recognizing and honoring volunteers sets a standard for service, encourages a sustained commitment to civic participation, and inspires others to make service a central part of their lives.
PVSA and HSCS
At Holy Spirit, students in K5-8th grade are eligible for this award. PVSA awards are distributed at our end of year assembly. Students keep track of community service hours completed from April 1st (of the previous school year) through March 31st of the current academic year. Each student will receive a signed certificate from the President of the United States and his Service and Civic Participation Council, as well as a PVSA pin. In addition to outside service, HSCS will host a few PVSA events throughout the year after school.
A Community Built On Partnership
Holy Spirit parents are welcomed into an active and collegial community. Our Parent Teacher Committee offer ample opportunities to connect with other parents and support areas of HSCS that mean the most to your family. Holy Spirit appreciates and relies upon our parents' active participation and investment of time, talent, and treasure on behalf of the school and students. Through the required Parents as Partners (PAP) program, parents provide service hours to support and enhance the school programs.
